Newbridge Lakes is situated in Burstwick, not far from Hull and comprises of 3 lakes. The specimen/Carp Lake and 2 smaller match lakes. We use the Carp lake for our competitions and you could not wish to find a more striking venue. With beds of lily pads and a stunning house over looking the lake, which is featured in a tv program. Lance and Michelle Bramley own and run this very popular northern venue which hosted our Northern final 2 years ago.

Post Match Report

The top three pairs in this event came out 4th, 5th and 6th respectively in the watercraft draw. The 4th placed pair were first out of the draw bag. This just goes to show the draw is not always the governing factor in these matches. It was a relatively slow start on Friday as is often the case with carp fishing competitions. There were 4 fish caught which were shared between 3 pegs.

Saturday was an amazing day for Micah Judah and Jonathan Fisher in peg 2. Between 9:30am and 11:15pm they landed 6 fish with a 27 and a half pounder and a 23lb+ amongst them putting them firmly in the lead on 111lb 5oz. Next in line at this stage were Liam Severn and David Staniforth, in peg 1, also on 6 fish for 81lb 12oz. Brothers Darren and Dean Queen, peg 3, had 2 fish for 31lb+ putting them in third. In the fourth qualifying place was Dan Robson and Steven Scott.

Sunday like Friday was pretty slow with only 4 fish out. However 3 of them went to peg 1 and was enough for them to snatch victory from the neighbours in peg 2 by just over 6lb. Micah and Jonathan had lost fish but not managed to add to their hectic Saturday tally. The Queen brothers were the other other pair to register a fish on Sunday to consolidate their third position. Dan and Steven hung on to their fourth place and with it a qualifying spot in the final.

There were twenty three fish caught during the event for a total of 386llb which equates to a 16lb per fish average.
